Freestyle is a no-holds barred aerobatic routine where anything goes as long as safety rules are not compromised in the process.  The emphasis is on "wow factor" and the contestants may use music or special effects to enhance their performance.  The criteria used for judging are originality, versatility, harmony and rhythm and execution.  The freestyle program is enjoyable for the pilots because it gives them a chance to show their stuff and the spectators love it because of its high entertainment value.

For this year's program, the 8th in the Ballet of the Sky series, we picked the best flights from the Tucson Aerobatic Shootout with over $100,000 in cash and merchandise prizes.  Needless to say, with a purse of such magnitude, the Shootout drew some of the top competitors in the world.  In addition to all the big names we're also pleased to be able to bring you a number of pilots that are new to Ballet of the Sky.  Featured pilots will pull out all the stops to impress and entertain you.
